IBF lightweight Champion Richard Commey is expected "back home" on Thursday after his victory against Russian opponent Isa Chaniev early this month.

The champions will arrive at 3.15pm on flight Air Portugal 1527 from Lisbon, his manager Michael Amoo Bediako Snr has said.

The Chief Executive Officer of Streetwise Management,he will arrive a day earlier to put measures in place to welcome the new Champion on Thursady..

“Richard will be arriving back home on Thursday 14th February at 3.15pm on flight Air Portugal 1527 from Lisbon, Amoo Bediako said.

"I will be arriving on Wednesday 13 Feb in BA flight 81 at 8pm.”

Richard Commey made history on the 2nd of February in Frisco Texas at the Ford Center when he knocked out his Russian opponent Isa Chaniev in round 2 of the scheduled 12 rounder.

A rousing welcome is expected at the Kotoka Internatiiona Airport as reports indicates fans are anxiously ready to welcome Ghana’s newest world champ.

The likes of D. K. Poison, Azumah Nelson Ike Quartey, Nana Yaw Konadu, Joshua Clottey, Joseph Agbeko, Isaac Dogboe and also expected to grace the homecoming event.

"The Ghana Boxing Authority (GBA) is entreating all boxing fans and sundry to make the trip to the Kotoka International Airport on Thursday the 14th of February at 3:15 GMT," according to reporter Sammy Heywood Okine

"The GBA president however cautions fans to behave maturely at the airport in welcoming the newest champion of Ghana and Africa"
