New Asante Kotoko midfielder Richard Boadu aka Agadas has paid glowing tribute to his coach during his formative years in Colts football.

The midfielder began his career at Colts side Top Rankers FC in Buokrom a suburb of Kumasi with coach Musah a football enthusiast as their trainer.

Richard Boadu has signed a three year deal at the club that will keep him there until the end of the 2024 season.

He says that he began his career as a right back but as if by luck or design he was pushed to the defensive midfield role when the regular player was absent and he was asked by his coach to fill in at that position.

According to the player he excelled in that position and as they say the rest is history.

"I was spotted on the number 2 position during my young stages and I was groomed by my colts coach. He one day asked me to play 6 position in the absence of the player who was supposed to be in that position."

" I took on jersey number 6and I had a tremendous performance on that day. Since then, whenever I put on that jersey number 6, I always perform good but before that, I was wearing jersey number 14." he told the in house Kotoko media team.

“There is some spirit in the jersey number 6 that helps me to perform well. Many may ask ‘do we have some particular jersey number that helps one to perform?

“I always pray for favour from God upon that jersey. I can sometimes play whilst I feel like not me” he said.
