Super Eagles B head coach, Daniel Ogunmodede, has expressed satisfaction with his team’s goalless draw against Ghana in the first leg of their African Nations Championship (CHAN) qualifier.
The thrilling encounter at the Accra Sports Stadium saw Nigeria hold their ground against their West African rivals despite Ghana creating several scoring opportunities.
Speaking after the match, Ogunmodede acknowledged Ghana’s dominance and admitted that his team was fortunate to secure the draw.
"Before we came here, we knew what we were coming to face in a team like Ghana, considering the rivalry between the two countries.
We knew how tough it would be whenever we meet on the stage, so we expected a very tough battle. We are lucky and satisfied with the result we came out with," he said.
Following the match, the Nigerian team returned to Abuja on Monday morning to resume preparations for the decisive second leg.
With home support on their side, Nigeria will be aiming for victory in the return leg next week, as they seek qualification for the CHAN 2024 tournament, set to be hosted in Uganda, Kenya, and Tanzania.
