Nigeria's number one goalkeeper Maduka Okoye was in fine form for his Dutch Eredivisie side Sparta Rotterdam on Saturday in the win over Go Ahead Eagles.

The under fire shot stopper who was harassed at the African Cup of Nations by Nigerians for conceding against Tunisia which eliminated the Super Eagles from the AFCON seem to have turned a corner.

He kept his third consecutive clean sheet for his side Sparta Rotterdam in the ongoing season.

The Watford owned goalkeeper produces some two crucial saves in the first half of the game and added another timely save in the second half to preserve their lead.

Sparta Rotterdam who are battling relegation moved out of the bottom of the table to 16th with that precious three points.

But of interest to most Nigerians is the form of Maduka Okoye who definitely has a point to prove to his critics that he is capable of being the number one ahead of Daniel Akpeyi and Uzouha.

He is expected to be in post when Nigeria face Ghana on the 25th March, 2022 at the Cape Coast Stadium before the reverse fixture at Abuja on the 29th March,2022.
