Former Ghana youth star and coach of Elmina Sharks  Nii Odartey Lamptey has resigned from his position as the head coach of the team with immediate effect.

The former Anderlecht, Aston Villa player replaced Yaw Acheampong who left his role together with his entire technical team somewhere in February 2021.

The entire technical team of Elmina Sharks which included  head coach Yaw Acheampong, his assistant coach Felix Aboagye and goalkeepers trainer Nana Mbrah left the club mid season.

Nii Odartey Lamptey who has been in charge of the team for the past two months cited personal reasons for his decision.

During his short stint at the club, he won three out of the four matches he played winning against Asante Kotoko, Dwarfs,WAFA and losing heavily by 4-0 to Liberty Professionals.

The team will now be handled by assistant coach Sam Addo as they prepare for their match day 21 fixture against Aduana Stars at the Dormaa Park.

Elmina Sharks currently lie 12th on the Ghana Premier League table after 20 matches.
