Former President of Ghana John Dramani Mahama has replied to the critics in the government who have called him a liar for showing videos of violence that characterized the Ayawaso West Wuogon by-elections to diplomats.

According to Mr Mahama, no matter what propaganda act the Akufo Addo administration will take to wipe away the violence that marred the elections, it will not succeed.

He stated in a Facebook post earlier today,  “No amount of government-sponsored propaganda and distraction will take away the stigma of the Ayawaso West Wuogon by-election, as the darkest day in the history of Ghana’s 4th Republican democracy”.

A number of Ghanaian citizens together with the government have criticised Mr Mahama for the action he took on meeting the diplomats.

He has been criticised for " lowering the bar of statesmanship" when he showed videos to the diplomatic corps over the violence at  Ayawaso West Wuogon by-election on January 31 and for attempting to  “paint Ghana black.”

On Sunday, Minister of Information, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, also said Mahama peddled falsehood at the meeting with the diplomats.

But Mr Mahama says available evidence vindicates him.

“Thanks to videos filmed by television stations and other individuals, the true identity of these hoodlums, identified as members of the Invincible and Delta Forces of the NPP have been revealed,” he added.
