The family of the late Former Vice President Paa Kwesi Bekoe Amissah-Arthur has issued a disclaimer over funeral cloths printed in the name of the late former Vice-President.
According to the family, they are unaware of the cloth which has been purported to be the official funeral cloth for the late vice president.
In a communique dated July 16, the family said they are not behind the production of the cloths neither do they support the idea.
“We are also not expecting the general public to mourn with us in that particular cloth nor in any other specially designed funeral cloth,” the statement said.
The brother of the late Veep, Jabesh Amissah-Arthur who issued the statement also added that, Paa Kwesi Amissah-Arthur himself stood against using resources in that manner.
“He (Paa Kwesi Amissah-Arthur) was always of the view that resources, no matter how little, could be put to more profitable causes such as the education of children,” Jabesh wrote.
The statement added that the dress code for the funeral is black and no special attire.
The Former Governor of the Bank of Ghana died on June 29, 2018, after he was rushed to the 37 Military Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Mr. Amissah-Arthur was reportedly jogging in the gym at the Air Force Gym where he collapsed.
He was the fifth Vice-President of the Fourth Republic and was in office from August 6, 2012, until January 7, 2017, under President John Dramani Mahama.
A state burial in his honour has been scheduled to come off on July 27, 2018. It is, however, strictly by invitation.
