The Confederation of African football has released a list of 16 players gunning for the best young African player of the year award.

The list is headlined by on loan Real Madrid full back Achraf Hakimi who plays at Bundesliga side Dortmund.

Krepin Diatta who plays for Club Brugge starred for the Senegal side who reached the finals of the African Cup of Nations final in 2019 but eventually lost to Algeria is also on the list of nominees.

Red Bull Salzburg have four players in the list of young players namely; Enoch Mwepu,Patson Daka,Sekou Koita and Amadou Haidara.

Lille's Victor Osimhen who has been in the form of his life this season has scored 7 goals in 13 appearances in the French ligue 1 while scoring twice in four Champions League appearances this season.

Southampton and Mali international Moussa Djenepo, Villareal and Nigeria's Samuel Chwukueze all make up the list.

The football awards will take place on Tuesday, 7 January 2020, at Citadel Azure, Hurghada, Egypt.
