The National Chairman of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Samuel Ofosu-Ampofo, has stated that nothing can stop him from leading the party to victory in the 2020 elections.

Mr. Ofosu-Ampofo made the comments when he addressed supporters of the NDC who had massed up at the Police Headquarters in Accra demanding his release.

The former Eastern regional minister finally honoured the invitation of the Police CID over the leaked audio tape involving him.

He went to the Police headquarters in the company of senior lawyers including Tony Lithur and former Attorney General Marrietta Brew Appiah-Oppong among others who served in the erstwhile Mahama
administration.

It comes after reports that the Police were seeking an arrest warrant to go after the NDC chair following his failure to report himself on two different occasions.

In the leaked audio, Mr. Ofosu-Ampofo told party communicators that “we’re going to take her [EC boss] to the cleaners.”

“As for the EC chair, we must wage a relentless war on this EC chair. Me, she doesn’t want to see my face,” Ofosu-Ampofo allegedly said at the meeting which took place after the Ayawaso by-election.

Addressing supporters after his release Monday evening, Mr. Ofosu-Ampofo maintained that the voice on the leaked audio is doctored but hailed the Police for acting “professionally” in their handling of
the issue.

According to him, he has always remained peaceful and would not encourage violence or attacks on any individual adding that he would not lead the NDC to undermine the peace and stability of the country.

He also stated that he is willing to do everything within his power
to ensure that the NDC recaptures power in the 2020 general elections.

“As your chairman I will continue to work and absolutely nothing can stop us from winning the election 2020.”
