Defence Minister and outgoing Director of Elections and IT for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Dr. Edward Omane Boamah, has criticised the New Patriotic Party (NPP) for what he describes as lack of concern for the welfare of Ghanaians.
In a Facebook post on Wednesday, June 18, 2025, Dr Boamah said the NPP is more interested in holding on to power than solving the real problems facing the country.
His comments came after the NPP announced that it will hold its presidential primaries on January 31, 2026, to choose a flagbearer for the 2028 elections.
The decision was made after a National Executive Committee meeting in Accra on Tuesday.
The Defence Minister said, “The Competent Economic Management Team did enough damage to pensioners, people with disabilities, women, the youth and Ghanaians in general. In six short months, instead of apologising sincerely for their misdeeds, they're focusing on the next elections.”
“NPP thinks only about themselves and the next elections,” he said suggesting that the NPP is more concerned with “political survival” than national development.
