A leading member of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP), Gabby Asare Otchere Darko has told aspirants and candidates whose business is to use their money to buy votes from delegates that the party is 'not for sale'.

The comment comes after a parliamentary aspirant at the Ajumako Enyam Essiam constituency in the Central Region, Elisha Debrah Odoom took back his car gift from the party after losing the Saturday primaries.

Mr. Odoom who brought 11 saloon cars to the voting grounds as a gift to the party took away all the vehicles after he was declared loser.

Earlier, Mr. Odoom had promised to donate each of the branded cars to the 10 Zones in the constituency and the remaining one to the constituency office to ensure the effective running of party activities.

But Gabby Otchere Darko commenting on the development said money is not the only means one can enter into Ghana's parliament.

“NPP IS NOT FOR SALE appears to be the message to aspirants whose business is to use money as their main visa to Parliament”, he wrote on Facebook.

He added that if indeed Mr. Elisha Debrah loves the party as claimed and the vehicles were meant to be donated to the party as alleged, why then did he return them to Accra?.

Below is Gabby's full write-up:

“NPP IS NOT FOR SALE”, appears to be the message to aspirants whose business is to use money as their main visa to Parliament.

If indeed these pictures of Uber vehicles for delegates are true then clearly it did not work. The candidate who thought he could allegedly buy himself into contesting on the ticket of the NPP, Elisha Debra, came a distant third! He got 76 votes, with the winner getting 411.

If he loves the party that much then please let him show that manifestly by not returning the vehicles to Accra but to let the donation, if legitimately acquired, stay with the constituency!
