General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Justin Kodua Frimpong, has revealed that the party leadership is actively engaging in behind-the-scenes efforts to ease tensions among presidential aspirants ahead of the party’s flagbearer primaries scheduled for January 31, 2026.

His comments come amid increasing concerns over rising intra-party friction and public exchanges between rival camps vying for the party's presidential ticket.

Speaking in an interview with Channel One TV on Wednesday, June 18, Mr. Kodua addressed criticism that party leaders were failing to contain open confrontations between aspirants.

He clarified that while the party may not be issuing public reprimands, leadership is taking quiet but strategic action to maintain internal cohesion.
“That’s why we continue to caution personalities in the party. There are so many behind-the-scenes discussions and meetings and activities that go on."

"And you may not know the number of times that we have engaged certain personalities…how we’re able to prevent or even stop people from making certain comments and also how we’re even able to calm tempers in certain quarters,” he explained.

Mr. Kodua explained that the absence of public rebuke should not be interpreted as inaction, insisting the party's internal conflict-resolution mechanisms are functioning effectively.
“The fact that I have not come out publicly to rebuke Mr. A or B doesn’t mean the party has not taken certain actions,” he added, underlining the party’s quiet but deliberate approach to conflict management," he said.

With several high-profile figures expected to contest the NPP flagbearership, the party is working to ensure a stable and disciplined environment as the 2026 primaries approach.
