Aspiring Member of Parliament for Okaikwei North constituency in the Greater Accra Region, Maame Afia Akoto has chosen the Number 3 slot on the ballot on December 2 for the upcoming New Patriotic Party (NPP) parliamentary primaries.

The former Deputy Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Microfinance and Small Loans Centre (MASLOC) was accompanied by dozens of party supporters and her sympathizers to the vetting grounds, which took place at the NPP’s new Greater Accra Regional Office in Teshie.

In a post on her Facebook page, she said, "When you say a prayer, please say one for me too. I believe in servitude and have done so all my life. This is the time for me to do it better for my people in OKN..."

According to her, "I am not here for the camera, but to serve from a place of love for the voiceless, our children and struggling parents. Please pick up your phone and call the delegate you know in OKN to join the winning team and the selfless lady Afia Akoto. #3."

She added, "I am a woman of Prayer and understand the battle is not of man, but of God. Yes!!!! The Trinity God, the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit (3) has again given me a token of his involvement."

Afia Akoto is facing tight competition with the incumbent Member of Parliament (MP) for Akuapem North, Nana Ama Dokua Asiamah Adjei with two other strong men, as the race for who becomes the NPP Parliamentary Candidate for Okaikwei North Constituency has turned into a battleground.

The incumbent Member of Parliament (MP) for the Akropong Constituency in the Eastern Region, Nana Ama Dokua Asiamah-Adjei who is in her second term has opted to contest at Okaikoi North Constituency in the Greater Accra Region instead of Akropong following the decision of Sammi Awuku to annex the seat.
