Controversial Member of Parliament for Assin Central, Kennedy Ohene Agyapong has slammed some members of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) for calling for the disbandment of all vigilante groups in the country.

According to the outspoken lawmaker, pro-NPP vigilante group Invisible Forces have provided protection for the NPP as a party than the country's security forces have.

Speaking on his television network, Net2 TV, Mr Agyapong stated that he will continue to support the Invincible and Delta Forces until there is a general consensus to stop all political vigilantes in the country.

“Until the whole Ghana says Azorka Boys, Hawks, Invisible Force and Delta Force should stop their activities, I will continue to support Invisible Force because they have defended the NPP,” Mr. Agyapong said in Twi.

The maverick politicians stressed that until the NDC tamed their groups, the NPP will also make use of theirs.

“The President is too gentle sometimes, I do not agree with him. In 2016, he was away in Sunyani campaigning when some NDC members under the guise of a walk barged into his house [in Accra] and nearly harmed his wife.

“Look at the distance between the police station and Akufo-Addo’s house, and there was no police to defend Akufo-Addo’s wife. It took the Invisible Force to resist these people. Why is the NPP ungrateful to the invincible force? They have done marvelously well for the NPP,” he said.
