The National Sports Authority (NSA) has once again clashed with the Ghana Football Association(GFA) as  they have debunked the publication by the GFA that the Baba Yara Sports Stadium has been banned by CAF from hosting International matches.

CAF has removed the Baba Yara Sports Stadium from hosting international matches or category A games, the Ghana Football Association announced on Tuesday.

The stadium was given a one-match approval to host the 2022 World Cup playoff against Nigeria last month.

In a letter signed by CAF Development Officer Raul Chipenda and addressed to the General Secretary of the Ghana Football, Association Prosper Harrison Addo, Esq. the venue has been removed from the list of approved venues for international matches by CAF.

Professor Peter Twumasi in a post on his Facebook page has debunked the reports indicating CAF is yet to inspect the stadia available in the country.

KUMASI BABA YARA, CAPE COAST AND ACCRA SPORTS STADIA YET TO UNDERGO CAF INSPECTION FOR NEW SEASON 2022/23

The National Sports Authority (NSA) wishes to debunk reports going round that its stadia have been rejected by CAF after visits. NSA is waiting on GFA’s request as to which stadia they intend to use for their CAF matches. Such communication hasn’t been received yet and therefore no CAF inspection conducted in our facilities recently for CAF matches this season.

It is instructive to note that per conditions stated in CAF letter on 16th March, 2022 before Ghana vs Nigeria (played on 25th March 2022) to be relocated from Cape Coast, BABA YARA STADIUM was APPROVED FOR ONE-MATCH and TO BE IMMEDIATELY AND AUTOMATICALLY REMOVED FROM CAF LIST AFTER THE MATCH, and that Ghana is to invite CAF later for a thorough assessment and eventual certification like all others.
