The National Teaching Council (NTC) has announced new criteria for the selection of teachers for the Best Teacher Award.

In a letter addressed to the Ghana Education Service (GES) sighted by ClassFMonline.com, NTC said the Ghana Teacher Prize for 2018 shall adopt “international standards to honour outstanding teachers who have exhibited exemplary leadership and ground-breaking work that has imparted and transformed the lives of students”.

Faustina Cobson, a primary 1 teacher at the Richard Aquaye Memorial School in Agbobloshie, Accra, was adjudged the best teacher in 2017.

She received a three-bedroom house, GHS50,000 and life insurance cover from SIC.

The nomination for the 2018 awards will begin at the district level and move to the regions after which the final will be determined at the national level.
