Award winning investigative journalist, Manasseh Azure Awuni, has jumped to the defense of Former President John Mahama and the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) over an alleged $8m incentive the former president received from foreign investors.

In a leaked statement to the CID, Embattled Ghana Football Association (GFA) boss, Kwesi Nyantaki who is facing charges for fraudulently using President Akufo-Addo’s name to swindle some investors stated on May 23, that an amount of $8 million was given to Mr. Mahama and the NDC ahead of the 2016 elections.

News went rife Monday on a possible investigation on Former President Mahama over the alleged inducement fee of $8 million paid to him by investor friends of Mr. Nyantakyi.

Clarifying the statement, the multimedia journalist indicated that Mr. Nyantakyi got the entire incident wrong since the supposed investors who spoke to him were members of the TigerEye PI team who lied to him to lure him.

Mr. Azure wrote; UNDERSTANDING THE MAHAMA ANGLE OF THE STORY
The "investors" claim they gave money in the past to government officials. Nyantakyi writes that in his statement to the CID. Now we know they were not investors. They were Tiger PI's team. They just posed and said what they said to bait Nyantakyi, to get him talking. We know they are fake investors. And what they said to Nyantakyi was fake. So this means they DID NOT give any money to John Mahama or his campaign team.
