perez perez Arsenal F.C has officially announced the completion of the transfer of Spanish forward Lucas Perez from Deportivo La Coruna. He is yet to be assigned a squad number and according to the club’s official website the deal is subject to the “completion of regulatory processes”.

The cost of the transfer hasn’t been officially disclosed by the club but it is rumored that Arsenal paid 20 million euros activating his buyout clause to seal the deal.

The 27-year-old enjoyed a prolific season in La Liga in 2015/16. He scored 19 goals in all competitions, including 17 in the league. This included a spell when he scored seven goals in seven successive games, matching the record of former Brazilian striker Bebeto. He also scored in the opening game of this La Liga campaign, against Eibar.

Lucas began his career in Spain with Atletico Madrid C and then Rayo Vallecano. Spells with Karpaty Lviv in Ukraine and PAOK in Greece followed, before he returned to his home region of Galicia with Deportivo La Coruna in 2014.

Arsene Wenger in a statement on the club’s website said: “He’s not only a goalscorer, he’s a guy who combines well with partners, who can give a final ball and makes good runs. He’s got a good eye for goal and had an outstanding season last year.”
