The era of students carrying so many text books to school will soon be over as President Mahama has indicated that hos administration intends converting them into an electronic module.

According to him, the text books for the various core subjects will be converted into softwares which will be put on tablets and distributed to Junior High and Senior High School students.

“Students will receive tablets that have all their core subjects on the tablet. If the pilot is successful, the programme shall be expanded,” he said.

President Mahama assured that a lot will be seen under the education sector once Ghanaians renew his mandate on December 7, 2016.

“We will provide accommodation for teachers who will accept postings to rural areas,” he added.

The President made this known at the highlights of the NDC's 2016 manifesto, Tuesday.

Colleges For Training Nursery Teachers

A Mahama-led administration when elected into office will establish Colleges of Education to train teachers in early childhood care.

According to President Mahama "our commitment will be to establish colleges of education for the sole purpose of training teachers in early childhood care and development. What we have done is we have added the two years of kindergarten to our school system. Unfortunately, while we are training teachers for primary, junior high schools and senior high school, we are not training teachers for early childhood learning and so normally it is done by daycare attendants and normally if you give the child a good start at the kindergarten, they are able to maintain it throughout their education. So we’re going to set up colleges of education that will train teachers who are specialised in training children at the early level from four years and upwards”
