Kotoko legend Opoku Nti has expressed confidence that Hearts of Oak will not face relegation from the Ghana Premier League this season.

Despite their current precarious position, Nti believes the storied club will secure the necessary points to remain in the top flight.

Nti, a revered figure in Ghanaian football, was thrilled with Kotoko's recent 2-0 victory over Hearts of Oak, courtesy of a brace from Ugandan striker Steven Mukwala.

This win has propelled Kotoko into the top half of the table while intensifying the relegation battle for their rivals.

With only three games remaining, Hearts of Oak find themselves just two points above the relegation zone, making every remaining match crucial for their survival.

Despite the challenging situation, Nti is optimistic about their chances.

"Kotoko haven’t pushed Hearts of Oak into the relegation zone. This season, Kotoko have triumphed over Hearts in both legs which has given Kotoko the upper hand, but I don’t think Hearts will be relegated," Nti told Kessben FM.

Hearts of Oak face critical matches against Nations FC, arch-rivals Great Olympics, and Bechem United in their bid to stay in the league.

As the second most successful club in the league's history, with 21 titles, Hearts of Oak will be looking to draw on their rich legacy to avoid an unprecedented drop to the lower division.

Kotoko, their arch-rivals, lead the title count with 24 championships.

The coming weeks will be decisive for Hearts of Oak, as they strive to secure their place in the Ghana Premier League and continue their illustrious history in Ghanaian football.
