Despite Osman Bukari's crucial second-half assist, Austin FC suffered a narrow 2-1 defeat to LA Galaxy in a hard-fought Major League Soccer match at Dignity Health Sports Park.
LA Galaxy opened the scoring in the 31st minute when Gabriel Pec netted a left-footed shot after a well-crafted pass from Riqui Puig.
Bukari entered the game at halftime, replacing Brendan Hines-Ike, and made an immediate impact.
Just ten minutes into the second half, the Ghanaian winger delivered a perfect cross to Sebastián Driussi, who fired home to equalize for Austin FC in the 55th minute.
However, LA Galaxy reclaimed the lead in the 76th minute when Dejan Joveljic found the back of the net, once again assisted by Puig.
Austin's chances of a late comeback diminished when Guilherme Biro was sent off in injury time, reducing them to 10 men.
Austin FC will aim to rebound in their upcoming clash against the Colorado Rapids on October 20th.
