The Ghana Football Association(GFA), on Tuesday March 31, 2020 waved good bye to one of its longest serving personnel, Mr. Francis Oti Akenteng, after 14 years of dedicated Service.

The experienced trainer who supervised the technical department of the Football Association is relieved of duty after masterminding Ghana’s three World cup appearance, and waching over the National U20’s successful story of Egypt in 2009.

After a successful coaching Career, Oti Akenteng joined the Ghana FA as a CAF education officer, and a liason person for the Ghanaman soccer centre of excellence in 2006.

Between the times, Francis Oti Akenteng rose through the ranks in both Africa and the world.

Until his retirement from the Ghana FA, he was a member of the CAF Technical study group, CAF instructor for the Club licensing regulations, consultant for CAF and FIFA in the areas of Women Football Development, Youth Football development, referees development, and coaching development.

Under his directorship saw Ghana participating and excelling in major competitions in both Africa and the World.

Confirmed in 2009 as the substantive Technical director of the Association, Mr Oti Akenteng’s first assignment was to ensure Ghana participated in the World U20 championship in Egypt, and won on a grand style under.

He’s watched over the Appointment of many coaches for the various national teams including Kwesi Appiah, Avram Grant, Milovan Rajevac, Claude Le Roy etc.

His success story with the Ghana FA includes the Black Stars successful Campaigns in 7 AFCON tournaments and two World Cups.

The Women National teams also chalked many successes at various international championships.

The Ghana FA is currently looking for his successor, after a vacancy was announced some days ago.
