Henry Asante Twum, the Communications Director of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), has reiterated his full confidence in Black Stars coach Otto Addo and his technical team to lead Ghana to qualification for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, despite the team's disappointing failure to qualify for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).

In an interview with Asempa FM, Asante Twum acknowledged the challenges faced by the team but expressed steadfast belief in Addo’s leadership.

He pointed out that while the current coaching staff is different from the one that guided Ghana to the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, he remains convinced that the team is capable of securing a place in the 2026 World Cup.

"Otto Addo qualified us for the World Cup in Qatar, but at that time, he had Chris Hughton, George Boateng, and Didi Dramani on his team," Asante Twum stated.

"I admit that this time, it is different, but I believe Otto Addo and his technical team are competent and capable of securing World Cup qualification."

Addo’s current team includes assistants John Paintsil and Joseph Laumann, as well as goalkeeper trainer Fatau Dauda.

The Black Stars are currently in second place in Group I with nine points and are set to face Chad and Madagascar in the upcoming World Cup qualifiers as they aim for a spot in the 2026 tournament, which will be co-hosted by the USA, Canada, and Mexico.
