Ghanaian national team coach Otto Addo is preparing for a challenging encounter against Niger in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers, despite their recent struggles.

The Black Stars have been drawn into Group F, where they will face Angola, Sudan, and Niger.

Addo remains optimistic about Ghana's prospects but is cautious about underestimating their opponents, including Niger.

"Niger haven’t been at their best in their last few games, but they don’t concede much, and you cannot underrate them," Addo noted.

"They don’t have a good record in their last five, six, seven, eight matches. I think they won one, played some draws, and lost the other games.

But when they lost, it was just by a lone goal. So it’s going to be tough. All the other teams are finding it tough playing against Niger, so it’s going to be tough for us as well."

Addo emphasized the need for Ghana to be at their best to succeed in the qualifiers. "We have to be at our 100% best to beat everyone.

There is no small team in Africa at the moment. You saw at the last AFCON that very, very strong and known teams had problems with the so-called unknown teams.

So it’s going to be tough, but I think we have the quality to beat all of them. But it’s going to be close, it’s going to be tough, there are no easy games."

With Ghana aiming to secure a spot in the tournament set to take place in Morocco in late December 2025 and January 2026, Addo and his team are gearing up for a competitive qualifying campaign.
