Black Stars head coach Otto Addo is optimistic about securing all three points against Angola in their opening match of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers. Ghana will face the Palancas Negras tonight at the Baba Yara Stadium.

Ghana and Angola have clashed twice in the past two years, with Ghana emerging victorious in their only encounter at Kumasi, winning 1-0.

Speaking at a press conference on Wednesday, Addo acknowledged the difficulty of the match but expressed confidence in his team’s ability to win.

“I’m convinced that we can beat them, but it won’t be easy. We’ve had some injuries, but I believe the squad is ready,” he said.

Addo noted that despite the absence of key players such as Kamaldeen Sulemana, Gideon Mensah, and Alexander Djiku, the team has sufficient depth to handle the challenge.

“We have a lot of players who can match up. I wish all the injured players a speedy recovery and hope they can return soon,” he added.

The match against Angola is set for a 16:00 GMT kickoff. Following this, the Black Stars will travel to Berkane for their second Group F game against Niger on Monday, September 9.
