Interim Black Stars coach Otto Addo has sang the praises of former Newcastle, Brighton trainer Chris Hughton for his role in Ghana's 2022 World Cup qualification.

The Irish born Ghanaian was appointed as the Technical Advisor to Otto Addo in a hurriedly assembled technical team for the World Cup play off against Nigeria in February.

After Ghana's dismal showing at the 2021 African Cup of Nations tournament in Cameroon, Serbian trainer Milovan Rajevac was shown the exit with Otto Addo being made the coach whiles George Boateng and Masaud Didi Dramani were made assistant coaches.

The new look technical team masterminded a qualification over fierce rivals Nigeria in a two legged play off game.

Speaking after the feat, Otto Addo praised Chris Hughton for his invaluable support and advise in the run up to the qualification.

"Former Premier League Coach, his experience alone speaks for himself. He was prepared for every situation and he [Chris Hughton] gave me the best advice I could ever get." - Addo told Takoradi-based Empire FM.

The Black Stars will play their first group match at the 2022 World Cup against Portugal on November 24th, 2022 before taking on Korea on November 28th and finally facing Uruguay on December 2.
