Ghana head coach Otto Addo has praised the unwavering support of Kumasi fans as the Black Stars prepare for their 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier against Angola.
The match is set to take place at the Baba Yara Stadium on Thursday, September 5, at 16:00 GMT.
Ghana will kick off their campaign with this home fixture before traveling to Berkane, Morocco, for their second Group F game against Niger on September 9.
The Palancas Negras made a notable impression earlier this year by reaching the quarter-finals of the 2023 AFCON, while Ghana faced an early exit from the tournament.
Ahead of the crucial match, Addo expressed his appreciation for the support from Kumasi fans. “To be honest, I’m not concerned.
Kumasi fans have never let us down. In the last game, even when we were 2-1 behind against the Central African Republic, they supported us all the way,” he said.
Addo emphasized the vital role the fans play in motivating the team. “They are always supportive; they help us tremendously.
They are like our 12th player, and we love to play in Kumasi. I encourage them to keep up their excellent support, as it is very, very helpful,” he added.
With Sudan having secured a 1-0 victory over Niger in the opening match of Group F, Ghana is determined to start their qualifiers on a strong note.
The Black Stars aim to ensure they do not drop points on home soil as they strive for qualification to Africa's premier football competition.
