Minister for Communication, Digital Technology and Innovation Samuel Nartey George has announced that over 16,000 government services will soon be available online through a revamped Ghana.Gov portal

According to him, this is part of a broader push to modernise public service delivery and enhance digital governance.

At a media briefing on Thursday, July 3, Sam George revealed that the Ministry, in collaboration with the National Information Technology Agency (NITA), is spearheading a complete redesign of the Ghana.Gov site.

The upgraded platform will offer faster access, full Ghana Card integration, and a user-friendly interface for both individual citizens and businesses.

“The Ghana.Gov platform is undergoing comprehensive reengineering led by the Ministry and NITA to modernise citizen interaction with government. The redesigned site, which will launch after the public tender process, will feature significantly faster access, full Ghana Card integration, and an intuitive, streamlined interface tailored for both individuals and businesses.”

Once fully implemented, citizens will enjoy more transparent, convenient, and reliable access to public services, eliminating the need for physical visits to government offices.

Simultaneously, the Minister addressed digital freedoms, assuring the public that efforts to modernise systems won’t compromise freedom of expression.

He disclosed that the government is finalising a national misinformation and disinformation bill, to be introduced in the next Parliamentary session, aimed at curbing harmful false information while preserving free speech.

“We intend to put 16,000 government services on that platform,” Sam George affirmed, underscoring the administration’s commitment to digital reform without diluting fundamental civil liberties.
