Elmina Sharks have called on the Ghana Football Association to rescind the red car shown to their midfielder Isaac Donkor in their match day 25 clash with Accra Hearts of Oak at the Accra Sports Stadium on Sunday.

The player was shown the exit after a contentious penalty was awarded for Hearts of Oak after referee Maxwell Owusu adjudged the ball to have struck the arm of a Sharks player.

Sharks lost the match by 2-0 as goals from Hearts of Oak's Isaac Mensah and Benjamin Afutu handed the home side all three points.

General Secretary for Elmina Sharks, Kelvin Aboagye Yeboah has told the Ghana Football Association to do the needful by over turning the red card suffered last week.

The referee has through a message on his social media platform apologized for the error in judgement and asked for forgiveness.

“We need the player for our Sunday game, so the GFA must do the right thing by clearing our player of wrongdoing so that he can play this Sunday”, he said in an interview with Today newspaper.

He also confirmed that the club have made official complaints to the GFA and expect the referee to be sanctioned.

Elmina Sharks are 12th on the league table with 30 points after 25 games in an 18 team league.
