The Founder and Leader of Glorious Word Power Ministries, Rev. Isaac Owusu Bempah, says government’s decision to erect a national cathedral is in the right direction.

According to him, he is completely taken aback by the public the outcry about the project.

He said President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo’s commitment to the project should be lauded because he has the nation at heart.

“I think this project is not just a building but a vision by our God-sent Akufo-Addo and should be respected.

For a President to come out with such a project means he has the nation at heart and so it is important that we commend him instead of bashing,” he said on Okay FM.

The building of the cathedral has caused an uproar in the country with a number of people accusing government of having misplaced priorities as well as wasting the taxpayer’s money.

Rev. Owusu Bempah said the government will not be funding the construction of the cathedral from the state’s coffers.

He indicated that the government will launch an appeal to raise funds with the support of the clergy.

He however called on Ghanaians to be rest assured that serious thinking would go into the construction of the National Cathedral.

President Akufo-Addo, he said, should be congratulated for constructing a building for God.
