Flagbearer hopeful of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Joshua Alabi strongly believes that a win for him in the party’s upcoming presidential primary will force President Akufo-Addo to vacate his position as President.

According to him, his victory will be a strong indication of the renewal of hope that the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) has denied Ghanaians.

Addressing hundreds of party supporters who gathered for the commemoration of the 31stDecember revolution on Monday, Prof. Alabi emphatically stated that Nana Akufo-Addo will start packing out of the official seat of government once he is elected flagbearer of the NDC.

“I am very confident that by God’s grace, delegates will give it (flagbearer) to Prof. Joshua Alabi. The very day they announce that Joshua Alabi is the flagbearer, H.E Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo will start packing from the Flagstaff House. I am going to give hope to our people and the whole country.”

Contest not a fight

Meanwhile, Prof. Alabi has admitted that the upcoming congress must not be seen as an avenue to create enmity amongst the flagbearer hopefuls and supporters.

He, therefore, called for unity among all seven aspirants and other party members before, during and after the congress.

“We are going into a contest which is not a fight. Competition brings out the best and the best is to lead our party. We cannot send a weak person into the race. I will entreat all of you to be united after the contest. All loser should support the winner because the battle ahead is not a small one. It is going to be a strong battle and we will be able to win if we are united.”
