Parma, the newly promoted Serie A club, has finalized the signing of Japanese-Ghanaian goalkeeper Zion Suzuki from Sint-Truiden.

The 21-year-old shot-stopper, known for his Ghanaian heritage, was previously a target for Manchester United last summer before the deal fell through.

Suzuki began his career in the youth system of Urawa Red Diamonds in Japan, turning professional in 2020.

His rapid rise saw him feature across all levels of Japan's national youth teams, earning a regular starting position in the senior squad by the age of 19 in 2022.

In the previous season, Suzuki impressed in 32 appearances in the Jupiler Pro League, showcasing his athleticism, strong character, and technical ability, which garnered attention on the international stage.

Parma reportedly secured Suzuki for a fee of 7 million euros, with additional performance-based incentives included. His contract with the club extends until June 30, 2029.

Despite interest from Genoa in their search for a replacement for Josep Martinez, Parma successfully secured Suzuki's services.

He is expected to assume the role of Parma's first-choice goalkeeper for the upcoming Serie A campaign, bolstering their defensive lineup with his talent and potential.
