Thomas Party tasted in his second defeat on Sunday as he marked his full premier League debut for Arsenal   against winners liecester city at the Emirates.

It is back to back defeat for the Ghanaian, who made his debut as substitute against Manchester City,  a game the Gunners endured a painful 1-0 loss.

Having marked his full debute with a splendid performance in the EUFA Europa League competition on Thursday against Rapid Vienna, the deputy Black Star skipper was granted his first start by coach Michael Arteta on Sunday, but the result was as painful as the one suffered against City.

It was  Jamie Vardy, who came off the bench to score a customary goal against Arsenal and send Leicester to within a point of the Premier League, with a first win at the Gunners' home since 1973.

Arsenal were disappointing and, despite dominating possession and having 12 shots on goal, never looked like seriously testing Leicester goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel as they slipped to a first home league defeat of 2020.

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta criticised the decision to disallow an Alexandre Lacazette header for offside early in the first half.

He believes his team should have carried the maximum points.

"The game the way it went, I felt we had total control in the first half and restricted them to nothing. We were winning every ball, created a few chances and scored a goal I don't know how it got disallowed. They defended deeper in the second half, waiting for the mistake and in one moment they did it,

"Against this block, against well-organised teams, when you open them up you have to put the ball in the back of the net. They were similar against Manchester City, they scored with two set-pieces and credit to them for what they have done but our players responded and I feel sorry for them."

The Ghanaian will still have to wait for his team's Premier League game against Manchester United to have a feel of what a league victory in Arsenal jersey will be like.

That will be after their Europa cup game against Dundalk.
