Schools participating in the FIFA girls' football campaign were recently taken through a comprehensive safeguarding training session in Kumasi.
The training was spearheaded by Evelyn Nsiah Asare, Chairperson of the Ashanti Regional Football Association Women’s Committee, in alignment with FIFA’s commitment to upholding child safety and promoting an enjoyable football environment.
During the session, Madam Nsiah Asare educated participants on the safeguarding protocols designed to protect young athletes, ensuring that their involvement in football is both safe and fulfilling.
These measures are part of FIFA’s initiative to establish and maintain best practices that prioritize the well-being of children.
The schools also learned about the importance of fostering a nurturing atmosphere that supports the development of young football players.
“We know how important the growth of women’s football is to the GFA, so there is a need to introduce it at the grassroots level for all girls to get the chance to showcase their talent.
The Association is making sure every child who dreams of playing football does so in a safe and encouraging setting,” Madam Nsiah Asare emphasized.
She further expressed the GFA’s dedication to fostering a culture built on safety, respect, and mutual support within the football community.
“The GFA is committed to creating a culture of safety, respect, and support among football players, and you young girls are no exception.
We will protect every child involved in the game so they can exhibit their talent to their full potential,” she added.
Objectives of the FIFA Women's Football Campaign
1. Boost women's football competitions with small-sided games.
2. Provide conceptual support for a personalized approach.
3. Raise the profile of women’s football and advocate for access and equal opportunities.
