The General Overseer of the International Central Gospel Church (ICGC), Pastor Mensa Otabil has added his voice to condemn the act of violence by some irate Muslim youth for vandalising properties of Rev. Owusu Bempah.

The youth stormed the Odorkor premises of the Glorious Word and Power Ministry in Accra, whose leader tore down his billboard, smashed glass louvers, and destroyed other property on sight.

The attack was over a string of New Year’s Eve prophecies made by Rev. Owusu Bempah, among which he predicted the death of the National Chief Imam, Sheikh Osman Nuhu Sharabutu.

In a statement issued on Thursday, 3 January 2018 by ICGC to clear the air concerning a recent publication in the media which pitted an old sermon delivered by Pastor Otabil – in which he condemned doomsday prophecies – against the recent prophecies pronounced by Rev Owusu Bempah, the church said: “Pastor Mensa Otabil would also like to take this opportunity to join several well-meaning Ghanaians who have condemned the violent attacks on the sacred place of worship of Rev Owusu Bempah”.

“It is his position that violence must never be used to settle our differences as Ghanaians under any circumstances”, the statement signed by Executive Pastor, Rev Albert Ocran, said.

Meanwhile, the National Chief Imam, Sheikh Osman Nuhu Sharubutu, has urged Muslims to exercise restraints amid violent reactions over prediction of his death by Pastor Owusu Bempah.

"we are living in peace with fellow Christians and other religion so lets maintain that relationship," the Chief Imam said.

" Leave him with his character and forgive him. As for death every soul shall taste it either today or tomorrow so no need to attack the man.

"we should not do anything to divide us as a nation. Please leave him and forgive him.

" am begging you, I am begging you," Chief Imam added.
