Ghanaian forward Paul Ayongo scored what turned out to be a consolation goal as his lower tier Portuguese side Académico de Viseu were beaten 3-1 on Sunday evening by Mafra.

The player has been in fine form this campaign and it was no wonder he added his name to the score sheet despite the dismal form shown by his side.

Despite being the home side it was the away side Mafra who were in total control of the game in the early exchanges but were unable to make their advantage count.

The away side eventually opened the floodgates in the 38th minute with Pedrinho the goal scorer before Andrezinho added the second goal of the game for the visitors on the stroke of half time.

Mafra went into the break with a comfortable 2-0 victory which was too nearly unsurmountable for the home side to come back.

The away side added a third goal in the 61st minute with Stevy Okitokandjo the goalscorer to make it 3-0.

The Ghanaian forward Paul Ayongo popped up with the consolation goal for his side in the 76th minute of the game.

He has now scored three goals in three consecutive games this season for his side.
