Two suspected robbers with Nigerian identity have been arrested at Inchaban near Takoradi in the Western Region.

The duo were arrested while trying to bolt away with their booty of GH₵33,000.00 which they stole from their victim around the Takoradi Branch of the ADB Bank in the afternoon of Wednesday, May 9, 2018.

The suspected robbers were driving a light blue Toyota Matrix with a Nigerian registered number when they were apprehended by the Police at Inchaban Police Barrier upon a tip off.

Their identities have since been revealed as Adeyor Adenkule, 47, and Alhaji Sulemon Olenwa, also 47 years old.

The suspected robbers, according to the Public Relations Officer of the Western Regional Police Command, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), Olivia Ewurabena Adiku, hail from Lagos State, Nigeria and entered Ghana on April 22, 2018.

Narrating the incident to Emmanuel Ohene -Gyan of EMPIRE News moments after the arrest, Madam Adiku said the suspected robbers traced their victim to the Prudential Bank where he withdrew some money and later broke into his car and made away with the cash.

“After withdrawing the money, the complainant said he descended to buy some food at the ADB Bank around the Harbour area. So, while he was buying the food, a lotto vendor who was also around the place alerted him that somebody has opened his car and inquired from him whether he was with someone. The man answered in the negative and so he quickly went to his car and it was there that he realized that the money had been stolen. He told us that he had earlier spotted the Nigerian registered vehicle just around the place and so started to give them a hot chase. He met a Police Office and reported the case to him who in turn, informed the information unit of the Police Service. We then relayed same to the Inchaban Police leading to their arrest”, she explained.

She added “Fortunately, they’ve not touched the money. It is intact and the suspects are in police custody”.

She said investigations are still ongoing to establish the mission of the suspected robbers in Ghana.
