The Ghana Police Service has dismissed rumors of a secret recruitment process allegedly taking place at the Kumasi Police Training School in the Ashanti Region. In a Facebook post on Wednesday, the police explained that the activity observed at the training school was part of a special operation aimed at addressing the QNET Ponzi scheme.

According to the post, on Monday, September 2, 487 suspects were arrested in Kumasi as part of an ongoing investigation into the scheme. Due to the large number of individuals involved, the police took them to the training school for further screening.

“However, while the screening was ongoing, some members of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) besieged the training school claiming they had heard of an ongoing secret recruitment at the school,” the police clarified.

The statement added that after the NDC members realized the information was false and no recruitment was taking place, they left the premises. The police concluded by urging the public to disregard the rumor, stating: “We, therefore, urge the public to disregard the claim of the said secret recruitment exercise and treat it with the contempt it deserves.”
