A security analyst Dr. Kwasi Aning has blamed the recent killings of police personnel on the state’s failure to provide the needed public service good.

According to him furious people are venting their spleen on the police as they believe they represent the state.

In the last one month about five personnel of the Ghana Police Service have been shot and killed in the line of duty bringing panic and worry within the service and the general public as a whole.

He has however called for an honest national conversation on protecting the police as arming them alone may not curb this recent phenomenon.

“People see the police as persons vested with state powers and target them so arming them alone may tend the current trend but it’s an aggregate of a whole in trying to understand why members of the pubic are acting this way”

The security analyst also called on members of the Police service to build trust with members of the public as it will serve them well in their line of duty.

“The can endanger trust with the public with their actions and inactions will send signals to the public that we are ready and willing to attack issue properly “he stressed.
