5th December 2025
The Western North Regional Command of the Ghana Police Service has arrested five suspected armed robbers believed to be behind a series of robbery attacks in and around Sefwi Bekwai, following weeks of targeted intelligence-led operations.
Addressing the media, the Western North Regional Police Commander, DCOP Dr. Francis Tsidi, said the successful operation reflects the Service’s firm commitment to safeguarding lives, enforcing the law, and ensuring total security across the region.
The arrests occurred on December 3, 2025, during a routine patrol operation in Sefwi Wiawso and its surrounding communities. According to police accounts, the suspects were riding on an unregistered motorcycle and refused to stop when signalled by officers, leading to a swift pursuit and eventual arrest.
Further interrogation of three of the suspects led police to the remaining two accomplices, who were later picked up in a follow-up operation.
A search conducted at the suspects’ hideout led to the recovery of several items, including talismans and face masks, believed to have been used during their criminal operations.
All five suspects are currently in police custody assisting with ongoing investigations. A court has remanded them for two weeks to allow for further probes.
The Police Command has issued a stern warning to individuals involved in criminal activities, stressing that no criminal network will be spared.
Authorities have assured the public that anyone engaged in robbery or violent crime will be tracked, apprehended, and prosecuted in accordance with the law.
