During his State of the Nation Address, President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo expressed his delight at Ghana's preparedness to host the upcoming 13th African Games, scheduled to commence in Accra on March 8.

In his address, the President affirmed that all necessary preparations have been completed to welcome athletes from across the continent for the prestigious sporting event.

“it gives me great pleasure to report that all the preparations are ready for Ghana to welcome sportsmen and women from around the continent to participate in the 13th edition of the African Games. It seems incredible, but this is the first time that Ghana will be hosting these games.”

The President said he is also happy that the sporting facilities will serve Ghana very well even after the African Games are done.

“It has taken a lot of courage to have persisted with the decision to host the games, especially when our financial problems came in the midst of the preparations. But I am glad we went ahead.

“The preparations are all complete, and I was excited and very pleased with what I saw at Borteyman when I went to commission the Games village some two (2) weeks ago. We have high-class sporting facilities which should serve us well long after the games are over,” President Akufo-Addo said.

Notably, this marks the first time Ghana will host the African Games, signifying a significant milestone for the country.

President Akufo-Addo commended the dedication and perseverance demonstrated in overcoming challenges, particularly financial constraints, during the preparations for the games.

Despite these obstacles, Ghana persisted in its commitment to hosting the event, a decision the President deemed courageous.

The President expressed his satisfaction with the state-of-the-art sporting facilities established for the games, emphasizing their long-term benefits beyond the event itself.

He specifically highlighted his visit to the Borteyman Games village, where he witnessed firsthand the high-quality facilities that will serve Ghana's sporting community well into the future.

With preparations now complete, Ghana stands poised to showcase its hospitality and organizational prowess as it welcomes athletes and visitors from across Africa.

The successful hosting of the 13th African Games promises to leave a lasting legacy, bolstering Ghana's reputation as a capable host for international sporting events.
