President John Dramani Mahama has outlined the core focus areas that will drive the 24-hour economy policy, positioning it as a transformative national initiative to boost productivity, generate employment, and foster inclusive economic growth.

Speaking at the official launch of the programme in Accra, President Mahama described the 24-hour economy as a strategic response to Ghana’s developmental needs, built on the principle of continuous productivity across key sectors.

“This initiative is about reimagining our economy—ensuring that Ghana works around the clock to unlock new opportunities and strengthen our resilience,” he stated.

The policy will be anchored on eight thematic areas, each carrying a distinct slogan that captures its forward-looking vision. These include:

  • Grow 24 – Boosting agriculture and agribusiness

  • Make 24 – Expanding industrial production and manufacturing

  • Build 24 – Advancing infrastructure development

  • Show 24 – Supporting the creative arts and entertainment industries

  • Connect 24 – Enhancing digital infrastructure and logistics

  • Fund 24 – Improving access to finance for businesses

  • Aspire 24 – Promoting innovation, skills training, and entrepreneurship

  • Go 24 – Encouraging nationwide participation and momentum

President Mahama emphasized that these pillars are designed to guide sector-specific policies and investments that enable round-the-clock economic activity, especially in industries with high employment potential.

The initiative is expected to revitalize Ghana’s economic framework by encouraging multi-shift operations, maximizing use of infrastructure, and expanding services beyond traditional working hours.
