President Nana Addo Dankwah Akufo Addo and immediate past president John  Dramani Mahama will be in Gambia for the inauguration ceremony of Gambia's newly elected president Adama Barrow.

Adama Barrow's swearing-in was hit by controversy after former Gambia president Yahyah Jammeh refused to step down calling for a court settlement on grounds that the elections had experienced mistakes which may have gone against him.

Ghana's John Mahama was a member of an ECOWAS team appointed to engage in negotiations with the then disgruntled Jammeh after his country's December 01, 2016 elections.

President Nana Addo having been elected into Ghana's highest office will look to foster a good relationship with the new Gambian leader to ensure smooth bilateral relations between the two countries.

H.E Nana Akufo Addo is expected back in Ghana later on Saturday.
