Ghanaian striker Prince Osei Owusu netted a goal for Toronto FC in their 2-1 loss to Forge FC during the Canadian Championship semi-final on Wednesday at Tim Hortons Field.

Owusu, who was substituted in at the start of the second half for Aime Mabika, scored a late goal in the 88th minute, offering Toronto FC a brief glimmer of hope.

However, it wasn't enough to overturn Forge FC's lead.

Forge FC, featuring Ghanaian winger Nana Ampomah, started strong with Beni Badibanga's stunning long-range strike in the 11th minute.

Just three minutes later, Canadian-born Ghanaian defender Kwasi Poku doubled Forge FC's advantage with a well-placed shot from the center of the box.

Despite controlling possession and having more shots on goal, Toronto FC struggled to capitalize on their opportunities.

Owusu's late goal, assisted by Derrick Etienne Jr. from a corner, was a rare bright spot in what has been a difficult period for the team.

This defeat extends Toronto FC's winless streak to ten games.

With their Canadian Championship campaign now over, Toronto FC will shift their focus to Major League Soccer (MLS), where they are set to face the Philadelphia Union on July 13th.
