Asante Kotoko head coach Prosper Narteh Ogum has credited his side's hard-fought 1-0 victory against Aduana Stars at the Nana Agyemang Badu II Park on Sunday to the team’s mental strength and unwavering self-belief.
In a tense encounter at one of the Ghana Premier League’s most formidable venues, Ogum emphasized that the win was less about tactical finesse and more about the players’ determination and composure under pressure.
“It’s about self-confidence; it’s about determination,” Ogum remarked post-match.
“Playing in Dormaa has nothing to do with tactics—it’s about the confidence of the team, the determination of the team, the aggression of the team, and, most importantly, the calmness of the team.”
Ogum highlighted the importance of composure, particularly in a challenging atmosphere like Dormaa, where a misstep in approach could be costly.
“We were very calm because I know the venue to be an aggressive one, and if you come aggressively, it wouldn’t help,” he explained.
The victory ended a four-match winless run for the Porcupine Warriors, injecting much-needed morale into the squad.
With this renewed sense of confidence, Kotoko will aim to use the result as a springboard to climb the league standings and reassert themselves as title contenders this season.
