Rans Logistics returns GHC19m following Auditor-General’s report
30th March 2026
Deputy Finance Minister Thomas Nyarko Ampem has announced that Rans Logistics, a company flagged in the Auditor-General’s special report for multiple infractions, has refunded GH₵19.1 million to the state just one week after the report was made public.
Rans Logistics was cited for overpayments related to grain transportation and the disappearance of thousands of tonnes of rice and maize. The repayment comes as Parliament’s Public Accounts Committee (PAC) continues to investigate the audit findings.
Speaking before the PAC on Monday, March 30, 2026, Deputy Minister Ampem Nyarko said the reimbursement illustrates the audit’s role in protecting public resources. “On March 10, I presented the findings of the audit to Parliament. Exactly a week later, on March 17, one of the companies identified—Rans Logistics—has gone ahead to refund GH₵19.1 million to the state,” he noted.
He added that the audit also uncovered that the company was paid for over 7,000 metric tonnes of rice that remain unaccounted for. “We are expecting the value of these 7,000 metric tonnes of rice to be reimbursed as well. The Attorney General is working with his team to recommend the appropriate course of action for all identified infractions,” he said.
Deputy Minister Nyarko Ampem stressed that the audit’s purpose is to safeguard public funds. “This example shows the importance of the audit. It was intended to protect state resources, and it is already beginning to achieve its purpose,” he said.
