The Belgian champions RSC Anderlecht have had to dig deep in their pockets to keep the services of highly-rated Ghanaian prodigy Jeremy Doku.

According to reports in the English media, Liverpool was in advanced negotiations with the parents of Doku. That is why the Purple and Whites had to act swiftly to tie him down to a new deal.

To keep him, Anderlecht would have put down a package somewhere between 500,000 and 1 million euros over the next three years, says S / V Magazine.

Doku has been earmarked as the next big thing in the Purple and White lads academy following his continued progress in the Belgian youth league.

The 16-year-old was included in the side's pre-season training but coach Vanhaezebrouck believes he needs another year with the second team.

Doku's versatility has won the hearts of the technical bench of the Constant Vanden Stock Stadium's outfit, as he could play on the left, right as well as fill in as a central striker.
