Roma defender Evan Ndicka collapsed during his team's Serie A match against Udinese on Sunday but is reportedly in "good spirits" in the hospital.

The incident occurred in the 72nd minute of the game, prompting the match to be abandoned. Ndicka, a 24-year-old Ivory Coast player, was taken off the field on a stretcher while appearing to be conscious.

Roma provided an update on Ndicka's condition, stating that he "feels better" and has been visited by his teammates.

However, he will remain under observation for further tests at the hospital.

Following Ndicka's collapse, medical staff and emergency services were summoned to the pitch, ultimately leading to the decision to abandon the match.

The score was 1-1 at the time, with Roberto Pereyra having given Udinese an early lead before Romelu Lukaku equalized for Roma.

Ndicka, who joined Roma from Eintracht Frankfurt in 2023, has made 19 appearances for the Italian club.

The Serie A fixture between Roma and Udinese will resume at a later date to complete the remaining portion of the match.
