Russian President Vladimir Putin has congratulated President-Elect John Dramani Mahama on his decisive victory in the recently concluded 2024 general elections.
In a letter to Mahama, Putin highlighted the longstanding bilateral relationship between the two nations and reaffirmed his commitment to strengthening and maintaining the friendly ties between them.
Expressing confidence in Mahama’s incoming administration, Putin stated that the President-Elect's leadership as Head of State will enhance the existing cooperation between the two countries across various sectors.
“Please accept my sincere congratulations on the occasion of Your election as the President of the Republic of Ghana. The Russian-Ghanaian relations have traditionally been of a friendly nature. I believe that Your work as the Head of State will contribute to the further development of a mutually beneficial bilateral cooperation in various fields,” the letter said.
As a gesture of sportsmanship, Putin wished success for Mahama and his incoming government, while also praying for his good health.
“I wish you every success as well as good health and wellbeing.”
