Bernard Allotey Jacobs has asked President  Akufo-Addo to Management of Ghana Grid Company (GRIDCO) if the incessant power outages, populaly called Dumsor is not fixed.

Ghanaians have in recent times been saddled with intermittent power cuts, with authorities in the sector giving diverse reasons for which the situation exists.

GRIDCo's earlier blame on shortage of water in the Bui  dam, was for instance countered by the Bui Power Authority CEO, who said  GRIDCO had misinformed the Energy Minister because his outfit is not to be blame for the  challenges in the power sector.

The electricity transmission company also claimed the company is undertaking maintenance on some power lines, hence resulting in the current intermittent power supply.

GRIDCO's new promise to Ghanaians is that the situation will be fixed by September, but Mr Jacobs, like many other Ghanaians   argue that  GRIDCo's reasons are mere rhetorics.

Mr Jacobs who was contrubuting to a discussion on Accra-based Peace FM said the President must sack the management should they fail to resolve the challenges by September this year, as promised.

"GRIDCo has given us assurance that by September, the problem will be solved. I will appeal to the President that, by September, if they are not able to resolve the challenges; he should get rid of those GRIDCo management straightaway. There has to be discipline somewhere and I will always be saying that now we have a quality leader . . . so he should be performing," he emphasized.

Allotey Jacobs urged the President to break the cycle where leaders or heads of public companies are left off the hook when they are not able to execute their duties effectively.

"It (the dismissal) should happen. It should! Somebody must start it from somewhere and Nana Addo has that capability of doing it and he should do it," he exclaimed.
